Just to clear a few things up. Cian, I am still on the fence as to the dog/pig issue but will certainly take your comments into consideration. Sue, the ‘grapevine’ is a complex dance step, too difficult to describe while the ‘spotty dog’ is a move resembling the spotty dog in the Woodentops, hence the name. Geddit? Eddie, I would prefer not to remember my ‘waters breaking’ at Champneys’ ping pong table – that’ll teach me not to fool around in the jacuzzi! Whoever the stranger is whose pig died, maybe you didn’t treat it with due care and attention – and I also think Stalin would have been a safer fancy-dress bet than Hitler (bigger moustache for a start).

Anna, I would like to point out to you that you have been debating the dog/pig situation for about 2 years now! I am beginning to think you are just doing it to wind us all up, and get us thinking that we are going to get one and then let us down by going ‘Well, what about when I go away, I wont be able to because I would leave the dog/pig by itself.’ I would like to point out that this is why we build houses next to eachother, so our neighbours, that can look after our pets while we are away! Plus, I would do the dog/pig-sitting if you asked me to, as long as the pet (be it a dog/pig/hippo) has a really cool and funny pet name, I am sick of hearing about pets with human names like ‘Poppy’ and ‘Harry’! They are animals for god’s sake, giving them ridiculous names is about as much as you can get away with without the RSPCA bollocking you for being ‘cruel’. I hope have managed to talk you into getting a dog or pig. If not, this was a total waste of time.
Thank you Sorcha. I can see this debate run and run. By the way, I would not trust my neighbours with my dog/pig. What if it wakes up in the middle of the night having a nightmare or is let down badly by a dog/pig of the opposite sex? Who is going to provide a friendly paw/trotter? Not a neighbour. Sometimes, only a mummy will do, even a non-biological one.
